Women’s health week recap
At Embrace Physio + Pilates, we are passionate about supporting women through every stage of life and sharing knowledge that helps women feel informed, empowered and confident about their health. September is a particularly special time for us, as we celebrate Women’s Health Week by Jean Hailes and the importance of prioritising women’s health.
This year’s Women’s Health Week theme, “Do It Anyway”, encouraged women to take small, simple steps towards looking after their health. Hear our recap from the week below and be sure to check out our posts!
to Fuel
Nutrition can play an important role in supporting overall health and managing persistent pain. Our brilliant dietetics colleagues at The Dietologist shared their expertise on how an anti-inflammatory diet may help support women experiencing pain and other health concerns.
to move
Movement is an important part of maintaining physical and pelvic health throughout life. Whether you have been thinking about starting running or are looking to return to running after a break, Sophie from SheFitt shares practical tips to help you build your running practice safely and confidently.
For women returning to exercise after pregnancy, experiencing pelvic floor symptoms or managing pelvic pain, working with a pelvic health physiotherapist can also help you understand how to safely progress your movement and exercise.
to rest
Rest is often associated with getting more sleep or taking a nap, but we know this can be particularly challenging during the perinatal period, when sleep may be interrupted and life can feel especially busy.
Perinatal Psychologist Pree from She Speaks shares practical and achievable strategies to help incorporate more rest into your day-to-day life, even when a traditional “rest day” may not feel realistic.
to breathe
At Embrace Physio + Pilates, we often talk about the connection between the breath and pelvic floor muscles. If you have ever had a pelvic floor assessment with us, you will know that breathing is an important part of developing awareness and coordination of the pelvic floor.
Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist Courtney takes us through simple ways to use your breath to improve awareness of your pelvic floor muscles and support your pelvic health.
to connect
We are incredibly lucky to work with a range of health and wellbeing practitioners across our sites from Embrace House, From Day One, and Caulfield South Family Clinics. Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to connect women with the right professionals and provide holistic support for their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Hear from Jess about why we love our multidisciplinary spaces and how connection can play such an important role in supporting women’s health.
Supporting your health, one small step at a time
Women’s health encompasses so much more than one area of wellbeing. From pelvic floor health, pregnancy and postnatal recovery to pelvic pain, exercise, nutrition, mental health and healthy ageing, taking small steps towards better health can make a meaningful difference.
At Embrace Physio + Pilates, our pelvic health physiotherapists are here to support you through every stage of life with individualised, evidence-based care.
