At Embrace Physio + Pilates, Clinical Pilates is a core part of our pelvic health physiotherapy approach. As experienced pelvic floor physiotherapists, we regularly prescribe Clinical Pilates to help our clients improve strength, reduce pain, and feel confident moving their bodies again. Our purpose-built Pilates studio is equipped with Balance Body Reformers, small Pilates props, and strength-based equipment, allowing us to deliver highly individualised, evidence-based care.

With small class sizes of just four participants, all classes are run exclusively by pelvic health–trained physiotherapists, ensuring close supervision, precise cueing, and safe progression tailored to your pelvic floor, core, and musculoskeletal needs.

Pelvic Health–Focused Clinical Pilates Classes

We offer a range of Clinical Pilates classes designed specifically for pelvic health, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and rehabilitation. These include pregnancy and postnatal Clinical Pilates classes suitable for all experience levels, mums and bubs Pilates for the early postnatal period, and pelvic pain–specific Pilates classes for those experiencing persistent pelvic pain, endometriosis-related pain, or symptom flares.

Each class is adapted by your physiotherapist to support pelvic floor function, manage symptoms, and improve movement efficiency, ensuring exercises are appropriate for your body and stage of recovery.

How Clinical Pilates Supports Pelvic Floor Health

Clinical Pilates targets the deep stabilising muscles essential for pelvic floor health, including the pelvic floor muscles, deep abdominals (transversus abdominis), gluteals, and postural muscles of the spine and hips. These muscle groups play a vital role in continence, pelvic organ support, and pain-free movement.

During pregnancy and postpartum, strengthening and coordinating these muscles can significantly reduce pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, and pelvic instability, while supporting a safe return to exercise and daily activities.

Integrating Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy & Clinical Pilates

As pelvic health physiotherapists, we commonly see improvements in pelvic pain, bladder and bowel symptoms, prolapse symptoms, and core weakness when Clinical Pilates is used as part of a comprehensive pelvic floor physiotherapy plan. Pilates allows us to integrate pelvic floor muscle coordination, diaphragmatic breathing, and pressure management into functional movement patterns.

The connection between the diaphragm, abdominal wall, and pelvic floor is essential for symptom management and injury prevention, and guided Clinical Pilates provides a supported environment to develop these skills and apply them confidently outside the clinic.

Clinical Pilates for Pregnancy & Postnatal Physiotherapy

We are passionate about using Clinical Pilates as a tool for pregnancy and postnatal physiotherapy. Whether you are preparing your body for birth or recovering after delivery, Pilates can help reduce aches and pains, support pelvic floor recovery, restore strength, and improve confidence in movement during this important stage of life.
