prenatal.
Pregnancy and childbirth is physically demanding on your body. We believe every woman should have a pregnancy assessment, before any issues arise, to support you during each trimester, reduce potential risks associated with both vaginal and cesarean section births and support postnatal recovery.
Simply learning how to correctly activate and relax the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles can help prevent a multitude of common concerns and help you safely exercise in pregnancy.
Services we offer for prenatal clients include:
Pregnancy pelvic floor assessment
Vaginal birth preparation to reduce tearing
Planned cesarean birth preparation and recovery
Perineal massage appointments
Abdominal separation prevention and recovery
Management for rib, pelvic girdle and lower back pain
postnatal.
Whether you are a first time mum, or have had previous children, every woman should have a postnatal assessment to be educated about how to activate your pelvic floor correctly and how to prevent common postnatal injuries.
Services we offer for postnatal clients include:
6 Week postpartum checks (recommended even for those who have positive birth experience)
Return to exercise assessments
Perineal/cesarean scar mobilisation
Blocked ducts and mastitis treatment
Prolapse or incontinence management, including pessary fittings
Management of wrist and hand pain (DeQuervain’s)
clinical pilates.
At our Armadale clinic, we offer specialist Pregnancy and Mums + Bubs Pilates classes. Our small class sizes allow for a hands on, carefully monitored approach, enabling our fully qualified pilates instructors to tailor exercises to each individual’s experience, strength, and limitations.
These classes are suitable for expecting mums and new mums, with a range of exercises focused on strengthening your body throughout the demands of pregnancy, in preparation for birth and are a great way for you to get back to exercising safely after giving birth.
If you’re a new client to Embrace Physio + Pilates, you must book an initial assessment before commencing exercise classes with us.
For newly postnatal clients, we recommend these classes from eight weeks postnatal and advise to book an initial postnatal appointment (60 minutes) or otherwise an initial clinical exercise assessment (pilates) appointment (30 minutes) prior to starting classes.
